Order Tara's Bicycle Touring Cookbook Today!

Short Day

by Tyler

Saying goodbye to Melodie and Alex this morning felt very premature. We would have loved to spend more time with them but unfortunately, we're all headed in opposite directions. Before parting ways we exchanged contact information, well wishes, promises to adventure together, and heartfelt hugs.

Slowly climbing the winding seaside road outside Amalfi, Tara and I immediately began reminiscing about our new friends, laughing about how much fun we'd had and talking about how nice it was to connect with other like-minded people. The weather wasn't looking promising and we both wanted to take some time to reflect on our experience, documenting our feelings while they were still fresh. When we found a craggy outcropping off the side of the road with a clearing large enough for our tent, we decided to take the rest of the day off after only 10km of riding.

With Amalfi still visible in the distance, we set up and dove into the tent just in time for the coming downpour. Once inside we enjoyed a quiet afternoon in our little home, whiling away the hours working on journals, knitting, and various other projects. As we relaxed, safe, dry and warm, we remarked several times how thankful we were for such a nice tent.

As the sun set Tara finally took out the free basil she'd found and prepared a pesto. I cooked up some noodles (Tara loathes preparing pasta) and we enjoyed our delicious (practically free!) dinner while admiring the view.

Tara will be taking over the journal for the next few days as I wrap up the newest addition to our website!

Thanks Yvette! I really didn't want to get out of our tent to set up the tripod for the shot but it was too pretty to pass up :)

Hope things are well down under!
