I've been biking to and from work lately, and I love it. It's very peaceful to have some time to myself before I have to begin the work day, and it is equally rejuvenating to have some time to relax and unwind after work before I get home. On my morning ten-mile ride to work, I watch autumn slowly creep up on everything. Each day, it becomes increasingly dark and chilly when I set off on my bike. As the sun is rising, I see that a few more leaves have changed color, and sometimes there is frost on the ground in farmers' fields.
I love whizzing by the bumper-to-bumper traffic, happy to be energized and coffee-free on my shiny green bike. It wakes me up and makes me feel alive, accomplished, and happy when I step into work. I almost feel sorry for the people who are driving! They really are missing out.
Lately, when I roll out of bed and start to get ready, it also starts raining. Without the proper rain gear (and my motivating sweetheart of a teammate) I'm not sure how much longer I will want to bike to work and back. Right now, though, every time I set off on my sweet green bicycle, I am reminded just how much I love it, and how awesome it is going to be when the only thing we have to do all day is bike around the world!
