This feature was removed during website upgrades on November 8th, 2012. If you are a parent or teacher who would like to use it, please contact me and I would be happy to re-implement it.
If you are a parent or teacher who is sharing Going Slowly with your children or students, please be aware that there is some adult content contained within. We want to help, but rather than censor our personal journal, we have created a simple parental control system which can restrict access to entries containing content that may be considered inappropriate for some.
The vast majority of our website is safe for all ages, but where it isn't, we've made every effort to rate our entries following the MPPA rating guidelines. We hope this is sufficient protection for the parents and teachers who are following along.
Please be aware that this system does not affect our preview pages (clicking on countries, topics or dates in the footer), or the RSS feed. Additionally, the settings only apply in the browser you are using when you configure them. If you have multiple computers in your home, you will have to set this up on each one.
If anything seems to be functioning incorrectly, please don't hesitate to contact us – we will do our best to help!
Disclaimer:
This feature is by no means a replacement for monitored internet access. A clever, determined kid could probably figure out how to disable it – I would have tried!
