Order Tara's Bicycle Touring Cookbook Today!

Mission Accomplished

by Tyler

It is 12:41 AM on November the 3rd. The year is 2012. Tara is snuggled up next to me, fast asleep. I am awake and programming, busy overhauling the internals of our website in preparation for the upcoming release of Tara's first book: Bike. Camp. Cook. It has been 413 days since our offer was accepted on a beautifully wooded ten acre plot of land in Vermont.

As of this moment, after more than a year of pouring nearly every cent I've made into our loan, the final payment has been applied. A million thanks to our parents for being so supportive, and for letting us stay with them rent-free during this marathon effort. The land is now officially ours, free and clear!

Congratulations guys! You're fulfilling you dreams bit by bit. Other people, including myself, just keep talking about it. I can't wait to read some stories... Kind regards from rainy Belgium!

Congratulations Tyler and Tara! As a long term reader of your journal I am so happy for you both. After so much effort and determination the fun starts now and I can't think of a more deserving young couple. (From a purely selfish point of view, I'm looking forward to many morning coffees reading about your new adventures). How exciting!!

Congrats, T&T! Way to go! Proud of ur perseverance & accomplishment (s).
BTW, with a group of friends, I'm setting up an eco-commune in Maharashtra state of India. So your website has more than academic and entertainment value for me. Esp the sections on the "Mud Girls" and the Timber House construction experience. I've not been following ur blog regularly in recent times. But hope to visit it more often.
cheers, ciao, auf wieder sehen, a bientot

Congratulations, that's awesome! Well done. We have just bought a house of our own after house sitting and staying with family for 14 months. It's such a great feeling to have our own place - though certainly not mortgage free... Can't wait to read about your house building!

Wow, just checked out this journal entry and saw a bunch of comments I've never seen! Our email alerts must be down or something. Anyway, thank you all for the sweet comments!

Debbie - The book isn't quite finished yet, but trust me, we'll be writing about it a lot when it is!

Katherine - Thanks, sweetie!

Meher - Thanks for visiting! It's so nice to hear that you're enjoying our site. :-)

Freddie & Guy - HI YOU TWO!! It's so wonderful to hear from you! Congratulations on getting your own place-- I know how amazing it must feel. Going from being alone together 24-7 to living with family is a huge change. We're so happy for you both!

Jodi & Erik - Well hello, Canadian dopplegangers! What a wonderful treat to read your comment! How are you doing? How is your land coming? Can't wait to hear more about your adventures, too!

Just curious. After all your travels, why did you choose USA to settle down? Actually quite surprised by this
Posted by N.R. on June 10th, 2013 at 8:04 AM
We stayed in the US because that is where our family is. We do talk frequently about buying land somewhere tropical so we can move there when we're like 70, though.
