Straw Bale Workshop in Vermont: July 2015!

by Going Slowly

We are thrilled to announce that we'll be hosting a straw bale building workshop on our homestead this summer from July 13th to 19th! We invite you to join us in learning and building with our friend and teacher, Andrew Morrison of strawbale.com. Together, we'll enclose the beautiful roundwood timberframe workshop we built in the summer of 2013!

The cost of tuition is currently reduced, and we're not sure how long the sale will last—we encourage you to sign up now! To see what you'll have to look forward to, here is a video of a workshop we attended in Rhode Island earlier this year.

PS: For those of you who are anxious to see the progress on our house, here's something to tide you over until we get caught up:

It's a bummer that we gonna be in Europe when the class will be given next year. This is a kind of skills I'd like to get my hands on.

On another note, I wandered around your pictures. You have a house!

Wait for it...

...

You ARE there! :-)

It's incredible to see all the progress you've done with the house. I wish here in Europe we can also do things like this, but lot of laws and high land prices make it impossible :P

A straw bale workshop on your land?! That's tempting:)

Just caught up on all your photos. Everything looks amazing! I think the wood burring stove is my favorite. It's adorable.

Carl - Too bad you guys won't be around! And yes, we ARE there. Sort of. It's quite the construction zone, but yes, we are in the house!

Felix - Thank you so much! I guess it depends on where in Europe you are? There are loads of people doing really cool natural building projects in Europe!

Natasha - DOOOO it. You know you want to. xoxoxoxox

Tara - well, I'm attracted by the idea of building something by myself based in CEBs (strawbale are also other option), but land prices here in Spain are really high (based in our actual income), so right now the best option is to learn from brave people like you, and wait for the best oportunity to start ;)

The walls and the timber look so gorgeous together. Beautiful work, guys! I would love to be able to take the straw bale workshop, though I may not be able to because of the timing. But if I ever needed inspiration to build something like that, you've certainly provided it!!

If I could afford it, I'd so be there. You guys and Andrew are all minor heroes of mine. But, due to my current situation, I'll have to wait for like ever. :(

So glad to see you are in the house. I was a bit worried when there were no recent updates, but now I see how busy you have been. (I have been a lurker for years.) You guys are amazing!

Hey T & T,
So happy to see you're finally out of the camper for winter!
Heating the house will be so much better with the nice wood stove than the camper with the generator, no? Have you sold it yet? (...the camper?)

Have a great holiday season, you deserve it so much you 2 ! ! ! 🎅🎅🎅
