After parting ways with Jahnavi and Addison in Saratoga Springs, we raced back home, arriving just in time to receive a shipment of roof decking for our grindbygg workshop. We now have nearly two hundred kiln-dried 2"x6"x16' tongue and groove spruce deck boards stacked underneath our timber frame. I am so excited about the prospect of having a water-tight roof.
I ordered the wood from a nearby mill that specializes in this type of paneling. Needless to say, I was a little bummed to learn that the material they delivered came all the way from Finland. So much for keeping it local. I'm consoling myself with the fact that the material (like our joinery) is Nordic in origin. Also, it's beautiful.
Now, it's time to get to work—we have two more rafters to complete before we can start laying this stuff!
