Looking for something to do while we wait for our rims, I decided to do some baking today. I thought traditional Jewish jam-filled hamentaschen would be a good idea since we had all the ingredients on hand, and I was craving cookies. I started with this recipe from Recipezaar and tweaked it a little.
They don't have vanilla extract here, so I used a packet of "vanilla sugar." I also had no way of chilling the dough, so instead of rolling it out flat (probably creating a sticky mess) I floured my fingers and quickly rolled bits of dough into little balls. I made a well with my thumb, and filled each indention with raspberry jam or apricot jelly.

Tyler kindly fired up our oven and baked them for me! They turned out great, even becoming triangles (the traditional hamentaschen shape) as they spread in the pan. YUM!
