Relaxing at our Bungalow

by Going Slowly

We spent a quiet day in Nakhon Nayok checking out the markets, drinking iced coffees, and eating tasty street food. We're really enjoying the relaxed pace of life here in Thailand. It is almost too easy!

Tomorrow, we'll either continue east towards Cambodia, or venture into the mountains for a 1000+ meter climb to Khao Yai National Park, to see our first real live jungle.

"It is almost too easy!"

Uncanny isn't it?

I've lived in very few places that were as easy to live in as Thailand (actually I can't think of one!). After a very stressful time in the West it was good to get to Thailand for an easier pace of life. Even with little money life is very easy in Thailand.

Interesting that there seem to be squirrels for sale. in 19th century America, people kept squirrels as pets and made interesting houses/cages for them. (see this example from the Philadelphia Museum of Art: http://www.philamuseum.org/collections/permanent/210541.html?mulR=1863 or this other piece from American Folk Art @ Cooperstown http://folkartcooperstown.blogspot.com/2010/10/squirrel-cage.html). One of my colleagues did research about them, and I think that she said that as people became more and more concerned about diseases and germs, squirrels as household pets became less common. More random information than you wanted to know.
