Introducing... The Woodland Kitchen!

Hello hello! Tara here, dropping in after a very long radio silence to tell you all about what I've been doing instead of updating Going Slowly with our goings-on. For the past year or so, I've been pouring myself into a project near and dear to my heart (and stomach!). It's called the Woodland Kitchen and it chronicles my adventures connecting with our Vermont homestead through my favorite medium: FOOD!

When I say "connecting to our homestead" I mean that I've been tromping through the woods, learning to forage for wild edible plants, tap maple trees for syrup, and roast meat outside on a spit like a Game of Thrones character. And of course, I've been documenting it all like crazy for The Woodland Kitchen.

I am thrilled to announce that as of today, the Woodland Kitchen landing page is live, sporting a launch video that explains the project in greater detail. For many years now, I've been tackling projects that are so thoroughly outside my comfort zone and skill-set that they require immense amounts of courage and inept floundering just to survive past the learning curve. These adventures are certainly rewarding / amazing / life-changing, but they do make me feel as though I'm constantly paddling (pedaling?) against a powerful current.

This isn't the case with The Woodland Kitchen, however! Though it requires plenty of learning and growing, it's a project that actually utilizes and celebrates my innate talents. As I (metaphorically) float along with the (metaphorical) current, happily accomplishing each step of the process with competence, I think "WHOA, so this is what it's like to do what I'm good at! This is AMAZING!"
